Bio

Barry P. Rosenthal has over 40 years of experience in counseling clients on complex and sophisticated business and real estate matters.

Prior to creating Rosenthal Advisory, Mr. Rosenthal served as general counsel of The JBG Companies, where he served on the firm's management and investment committees. JBG recently went public, and is now the largest publicly traded REIT focused exclusively on real estate in the greater Washington D.C. area.

Previous to JBG, Mr. Rosenthal spent his career as a lawyer in private practice, principally with the law firm of Bingham McCutchen, a 900 person international firm where he was co-chair of the firm’s real estate practice group. While in private practice, Mr. Rosenthal was involved in virtually all aspects of sophisticated real estate and business transactions including: acquisitions and sales; financings; joint ventures; leasing; workouts and restructurings; and fund formation/capital raising. Representative clients included real estate developers; real estate owners and investors; major banks, life insurance companies, and other financial institutions; and private equity firms.

Awards/Recognition- Mr. Rosenthal is a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers; has been included for many years in The Best Lawyers in America; and has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Chambers USA, where he was recognized as a leading real estate lawyer in both Washington DC, and nationally. In addition, Mr. Rosenthal has been included as a top lawyer in Washingtonian Magazine, The Legal Times of Washington, and Super Lawyers.

Mr. Rosenthal serves as:

- Director, Doyle Hotels USA, the US affiliate of an Irish based hotel company
- Director, Paradigm Development Company, a leading owner and developer of multifamily property in the Washington DC area
- Director, Rocketship Education DC, the operator of DC public charter schools located in Wards 7 and 8
- Member, Advisory Council, and Member of the Governance Committee of the Urban Land Institute, Washington DC District Council. 

Mr. Rosenthal received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and received his B.A. from the University of Rochester.
